Jim’s Roofing (Gungahlin ACT)

Jim's Group began as a part-time gardening business while Jim Penman completed a PhD in history. It became a full-time operation in 1982 and was franchised in 1989. The group now comprises over 5,500 franchisees across more than 50 divisions in four countries. There are no company-owned businesses; all work is performed by licensed operators and franchisees.

Jim Penman is the owner and full-time CEO. Jim's Roofing Services is part of the Jim's Group of franchisees and is dedicated to servicing the public with its roofing needs. Services include tile repairs, skylight installations, roof restorations, roof plumbing, roof painting, roof cleaning, re-bedding, metal re-roofing, gutter replacement, and gutter guard protection.

Tiled roof renewal, including rebedding, repointing, cleaning and recoating, is the work that customers of this Gungahlin operation most often write about, and Bibek is the name that recurs as the contact overseeing it. Reviews time and again mention punctuality, with crews arriving when promised and sometimes reaching the site a day ahead of the agreed start.

The finished surface attracts consistent praise for being neatly executed and durable, the result of careful attention to problems found beneath the roof covering. Customers also describe steady communication, with each stage explained before work begins and updates given as the job progresses, including when weather forces the schedule to shift. Fair pricing appears throughout the feedback, with the quoted figure described as reasonable and frequently lower than other estimates.

Tidiness and consideration for the property are noted, along with a willingness to work around other trades and household routines. Both repairs and full recoating feature in the accounts, and the same crew members turn up across different jobs. Politeness and an accommodating manner run through the comments, as does the sense that the team goes further than strictly required. Attention to surface preparation and coating on roof repairs stands out as the point customers return to.
